ReFashion - Pants into a Skirt
7:59 AMI've done several blog posts on converting pants into a skirt. I just converted another pair last night and I remembered to take pictures. Here is my latest pants to shirt conversion.
I started out with this pair of pants. They're a pair of pink paisley pants from Jones NY.
It's hard to see the color of the pants in these pictures. Here's a close up of the fabric.
To convert pants into a skirt, start by cutting up the inseam,
Next, fold the pants so that the waist band is even and legs are together. You will notice that they swoop out where the butt used to be.
There will be a smaller swoop in the front.
Remove excess fabric |
That's it!
PRO TIP:
For this skirt I started with a pair of pants that was 1 size too big. I like the looser fitting skirt. That way I don't need to add a slit or kick pleat.
SUPER PRO TIP:
You can use this technique to make lots of different kinds of skirts. Anything from a pencil skirt, to a wide flows skirt. It all depends on the kind of pants that you start with. DeleteKathy, love this! The skirt is adorable! Too bad my pants are getting tight...if they were getting loose, I'd be set! LOL xo
