Easy Homemade Pop Tart |
Homemade Pop Tarts
(makes approximately 16)
For this recipe you will need:
2 - Refrigerator pie crusts (I use the ones in the box, but homemade is fine too)
2-3 Tablespoons melted butter
Your favorite Jelly or Jam
granulated sugar (optional)
Rolling Pin
Pastry brush
fork
Unroll 1 pie crust. Use the rolling pin to flatten and thin out the crust. Roll it to approx 1/4" thickness. Be careful not to roll the crust too thin.

Place tarts on a lined or lightly greased baking sheet. You can line the pan using parchment paper or a silpat. Otherwise a light coat of oil, baking spray or butter is just fine.

Brush the tops of the tarts with butter and sprinkle with sugar (optional).

Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar. |
Prick the top of each tart. This will help vent heat during the baking process.

Prick the tops |
For best results freeze the tarts for 30-60 minutes. Then bake in a 400 degree oven for 7-10 minutes. You can bake the tarts right away (without freezing). Frozen tarts loose less filling in the baking process.
Cool completely and enjoy! The filling will stay VERY HOT for a long time. Make sure they are well cooled before serving!
