Cooking - Easy Salted Caramel Coffee Syrup

As fall approaches everyone seems to go for pumpkin spice.  Not me!  To me, fall is salted caramel season.

There are a million recipes for salted caramel coffee syrup.  This one is SUPER easy and uses ingredients that you probably already have around the house.  What's more - there's so special technique to making this delicious treat!

EASY SALTED CARAMEL COFFEE SYRUP

1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Combine brown sugar, water and salt in a pan.  Heat over medium flame until the sugar is completely melted.  Stir.  Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.

Cool.

This syrup will thicken slightly as it cools.

Easy right!?

PRO TIP:
If you don't have brown sugar on hand you can make your own.  Combine 1 cup of white sugar with 1 Tablespoon of molasses.

SUPER PRO TIP:
For extra dark sugar add a little molasses.
