Mason Jar Coffee - DIY Iced Latte

Pre made iced coffee is too sweet for me!
OK, so let me start by saying that it’s pretty easy to make iced coffee or latte.  Even still people stand in long lines at Starbucks spend a fortune.

You could also buy those pre-made iced coffees but that too seems a little silly once you realize how easy (and cheap) they are to make at home.  PLUS, the pre-made stuff is always WAY too sweet for me.

For this recipe you will need:

Simple ingriedient

Jar with a tight fitting lid.  (I use a Mason jar or cocktail shaker)
3 heaping Tablespoons of Instant coffee
½ cup Milk (or creamer) OR 3 heaping Tablespoons of non-dairy creamer
Sugar or flavored syrup [I like vanilla syrup]

Note:  I suggest making this at night so that it’s ready to pour in the morning, but that’s totally up to you!

I use typically use a 28 oz Mason jar so this recipe is enough to make about 3 (8oz) cups of coffee.

Add coffee, milk and sugar to the jar.  Next add 2-3 ice cubes (NO MORE).  Finally fill the jar ½ - ¾ full with water.  Shake vigorously.  The ice is there to help mix everything together.  Once everything is well combined, add enough water to fill the jar.  Refrigerate overnight or serve immediately over ice.

You can shake it in a Mason Jar

Or a cocktail shaker

NOTE:  This is how I like my coffee.  If you like your coffee stronger or weaker; more or less milky or sweet, please feel free to adjust it to your taste.

If the coffee is too weak for you – mix in more instant coffee.
If it’s too strong – add more milk (or water)

I notice that some brands of instant coffee and creamer leave little brown and white lumps.  Allow the coffee to sit for a few minute and the lumps will dissolve.

Mix up the coffee when I’m making dinner.  That way when you roll out of bed first thing in the morning all you have to do is pour a cup and you're good to go!
